Anatomy of What May be the Greatest Day in the History of Ever

Who could have imagined the tremendous response that would be generated by such a simple statement?

In one of those moments of sheer joy in life, I posted to Facebook that today might just be the greatest day in the history of ever! I was surprised by the number of people who responded to the post.  So...what exactly would such a wonderful day be like? Let's dissect it, in hopes it's something that we can repeat day after day!

I woke up...all is well.  Health, life, all of my needs met, and a meeting at 8am with a fine young man who works for Chase Bank as a Small Business Banker.  There is nothing quite like having an unpleasant experience with a banker to make you truly appreciate having a great banker!  This has been my experience for the past year, as our growing company began doing business last February with a small boutique bank that offers a 'banking concierge' service.  Sounds wonderful, right?  It wasn't wonderful. Ha!  My Mr. Wonderful for small business banking support happens to work for Chase Bank, and so it was that I met Mr. Wonderful in the Murphy Starbucks today (he bought, and that was a nice treat) and set up an account for our newest company, Maximum Health Partners.

Next...a brief drive to the office listening to this morning's sermon shared by Joel Osteen. Reminded always of God's faithfulness, goodness, and unconditional love.  No matter what may come each day, good, bad or indifferent, I know beyond any shadow of doubt that God is for me. His favor is on me, and surrounds me like a shield. Nothing can happen in my life that God cannot and does not use for my ultimate good.

Upon arrival at a lovely office, I am greeted and blessed by friends and co-workers who I find it a joy to work with each day. I grab a cup of my current favorite, Cookie Doodle coffee with sugar-free caramel macchiato creamer and head down the hall to sit and chat with my best friend of 30 years, Michelene Cleary; who is also my business partner.  We talk about the events of the day and people we need to call together and things we need to take care of separately.

I meander back down the long hall (easily mistakable for a bowling alley) to my office, where I've just recently added my favorite lamp from home.  I settle in to start making calls, and for one of those rare and sweet days, every call goes smoothly.  There are no bumps in the road this day. A new client sends a note to say, "we're ready...the terms are good, let's get started!"  Another new client sends note to say, "management has accepted the fee schedule, let's move forward..."  Michelene and I make a call to a delightful woman in Nashville, Tennessee who is working with us on a new contract as a consultant for another organization, but who could very well be a part-time consultant for our team in a future project we're preparing to begin in that state.  We enjoy getting to know her better, and share ideas we have for working together in the future.

After more calls and notes, and various follow-up steps, Michelene brings me one of my favorite lunches, the chicken kabob from Zoe's Kitchen. It is, in a word: AWESOME.  I savor every bite.

Next up, a call to a managed care company to talk with a friend of a friend, to ask her if she can help a friend of a friend of ours.  No money is changing hands...no fees are being charged.  Just friends of friends helping friends of friends...because we can. And because we get joy from helping people when we can.  She can help, she says, and she'd love to help.  The friend of a friend who needed help? She's now ecstatic and can't believe how quickly we were able to get her help. It feels good. And right.

And did I mention that it was Friday today, and Michelene picked up a Cinnamon Coffee Cake at Panera Bread to share with the staff? I don't need to eat Cinnamon Coffee Cake, but wow...it was sure good with the Cookie Doodle coffee.

By now it's getting late, and it's time for me to pack everything up and head over to see Zhanna. Zhanna is my friend, my hairstylist, and sort of a political philosopher too.  She is delightful and fun and sometimes a tad zany, and we love to talk politics.  With her native Russian accent, Zhanna doesn't say politics like we do...she says Po-li'-tic (with the emphasis on the middle syllable).  We talk and laugh and she does her magic tricks with my hair, and now my hair belies my true age, and coupled with the miracle of NeriumAD, I'm feeling pretty swell about how I look.

I come home to my new roommate and my two dogs, Missy and Amy.  Mariah is watching a show about Treehouses on Animal Planet. I've never watched it. I've never watched Animal Planet channel (this is the absolute truth).  She is so excited for me to see the Treehouse show because it's her favorite, and so I watch 3 shows about building Treehouses.  And hey, it's a cool show. I might watch it again.  Then we watch Shark Tank, a mutual favorite. Woven in and out of treehouses and sharks and entrepreneurial ideas, we talk about her day at Parker University where she's studying to be a chiropractor. I tell her about Zhanna's way of explaining the difference between socialism and American capitalism. We discuss friendships and the impact of who you associate with, and plastic surgery, and funny pictures on Facebook.   The dogs are driving me slightly nuts, because they want to go for a walk, and yes I'm going to take them for a walk...but not yet, not quite yet.

Because, you know...I'm busy having what may be the greatest day in the history of ever.  But when  I really think about it, I think it's time to take them for the walk now...because it's a little after 10:30pm on the greatest day in the history of ever, and what better way to top off the day than a walk around the block with my 2 best dogs.

And if you stayed long enough to read this blog, you might feel disappointed about the details of my greatest day in the history of ever...but I have fabulous news for you...it's pretty simple to do, and YOU can have the greatest day in the history of ever, if you choose to...every single day of your life.
